Lauren Ball is an artist and educator working with painting as a material color system.
Her practice develops three ongoing bodies of work—Silver Wave, Siena, and Millefleur—each structured through color, surface, and spatial organization. Across these series, painting is approached as a site of construction rather than atmosphere, where material processes function as forms of knowledge.
Ball received her MFA in Studio Art from New York University and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, with additional study at the Tyler School of Art in Rome and the Ox-Bow School of Art. She also holds a Master’s in Art Education from Columbia College Chicago.
She has lectured on her work at New York University, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago Alumni Association, Columbia College Chicago, Roosevelt University, the College of DuPage, and Marymount Manhattan College. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and featured in Artnet, NewCity Art, The New York Times, and Studio Visit Magazine.
